How to Maintain DTH Hammer？

Rinse the hammer with air/water for a few minutes, then turn off the water injection. Rinse the hammer with air/oil for a few minutes. This will coat the hammer parts to prevent corrosion/rust. Never leave tools in wet/muddy holes.

Methods：

1. Always store hammers and drill rods in a clean environment.

2. Use clean protective end caps on the hammer and pipe when not in use.

3. Make sure the inside of the drill pipe is clean before use. (Weld scale may be present in new pipes).

4. Brush dirt off threads before use.

5. Do not allow dust to accumulate around the security door or on the carousel (Lazy Susan) table.

6. When installing the hammer onto the drill rig, leave the protective cover in place until the hammer is ready to attach.

7. Do not use hammers or pipes if you know contaminants have entered the respiratory tract.

8. Do not throw the protective end caps on the ground, but store them in a clean place when not in use.

9. Always service your hammer in a clean environment.

10. Use only clean containers and sealable buckets for air line lubricant.

11. When installing new hoses or connecting large hoses to a rig with a separate compressor, take care to prevent contamination.

12. Proper lubrication of a down-the-hole hammer is critical, as neglecting it will accelerate wear. In order to reduce the consumption of lubricating oil, operators often do not refuel enough, which accelerates the wear of the down-the-hole hammer and increases the operating cost of the equipment. Therefore, operators should always observe the lubrication condition of the down-the-hole hammer and replenish lubricating oil in time.

13. As the hole depth changes, the drill pipe should be connected and removed. During the unloading process, rock ballast and various impurities often fall into the down-the-hole hammer, which affects the normal operation of the down-the-hole hammer. Therefore, the loose threaded end of the drill pipe must be covered during unloading to ensure that the drill pipe is drilled. The pole does not stick to rock ballast and dust.

14. During the drilling process, blockages and hollow rock fissures are often encountered, which may cause drill sticking. Therefore, a down-the-hole drilling rig should be used regularly for powerful purging and the bottom of the hole should be cleaned regularly to reduce jamming.
